Shows amazing depth, richness and concentration with a dark and savory character, layers of blackberry, blueberry and wild berry fruit that takes on a smoky, meaty, gamy edge with hints of bacon fat, quite full with a mouth-coating and delicious complexity and a long, rich finish that goes on and on. Needs a big hunk of red meat. (GB - Tidings, September 2011)
A blend of 46% Zinfandel, 31% Merlot and 23% Cabernet Sauvignon, possessing a wonderful approachability while still expressing the character of each of its component grapes. The Zinfandel really comes through in the aromas of blackberry and raspberry jam with hints of black cherries, currants and spice, while the Merlot provides a soft texture with flavours of plums and cherries, and the Cabernet Sauvignon contributes richness and an underlying structure. The tannins are quite soft, but despite the easy drinkability of this wine, it still maintains nice character and freshness. And, as with any good blend, the wine is quite harmonious and a well-knit sum of its individual parts. An excellent value. (GB - Tidings, September 2011)
Loads of intense and bold aromas and flavours of plum and cherry jam with chocolate and spice, a rich, refined palate, layers of complexity and a controlled brashness. Braised veal cheeks or beef short ribs would be ideal. (GB - Tidings, November 2010)
Rich and ripe with dark flavours of blackberry, black currants, black cherry and hints of mocha with firm, sleek tannins, great concentration and a rich finish. (GB - Tidings, November 2011)
Deliciously elegant, youthful, rich, vibrant and complex, with deep, sharply focussed, ripe cassis, plum, black cherry, blackberry, spice, and chocolate with excellent structure and depth of flavour and a long, complex aftertaste. Firm, ripe and fresh with great concentration and complexity. A tremendous value. (GB - Tidings, June 2010)
Elegant and approachable with aromas and flavours of dark cherry, raspberry, red currants, cola and an intriguing earthiness. Great balance, soft, supple tannins and vibrant with a nice underlying structure and fresh bit of acidity on the silky finish. Great with salmon, roast chicken and pork, roasted portobello mushrooms. The perfect picnic wine. (GB - Tidings, February 2012)
Deep and complex, rich in colour, aroma, and flavour, supple, but firm in texture with multi-layers of flavour with tons of plum, cherry, vanilla, chocolate and anise, vibrant and exciting with a long, long finish. A great wine. (GB - Tidings, September 2010)
Deliciously rich and deep, ripe and bold, with a complex mix of currant, wild berry and blackberry flavours, big fruit laden tannins, but still vibrant and fresh. Ribs and bbq. (GB - Tidings, January 2012)
Bright, vibrant and intense aromas of spice, a smoky meatiness, and hints of tobacco with flavours of wild berries, and white pepper that linger through the firm finish. Rich and intense, pair with ribs, game, or steak au poivre. (GB - Tidings, November 2010)
Beautiful aromas of roses, raspberries, strawberry and wild berry fruit with the ripe flavours cascading on the palate with a silky texture, excellent structure, length and dimension with more bright wild berry and cherry fruit on the long, elegant and delicate finish. Perfect with traditional Pinot Noir pairings such as salmon, but also an excellent match with Indian cuisine. (GB - Tidings, November 2011)
Deep, rich and concentrated, with well-integrated ripe currant, black cherry, spicy oak and earthy flavours that are compelling and persistent. Sweet tannins and a very pleasant edge. Ends with a long, layered finish. A great wine for venison, elk or any type of game. (GB - Tidings, November 2007)
A very expressive and aromatic wine. Ripe, rich, juicy and polished, with layers of black cherry, currant, and plum that are deeply concentrated, elegant and lively. Well-structured with firm, yet lush tannins with a light overlay of toasty, oak. The flavours linger on the long, rich aftertaste. (GB - Tidings, November 2007)
Perfumy aromatics of violets. Ripe, round and generous, this beautifully bursting mouthful of juicy plum and berry flavours with hints of spice and liquorice that last and lasts on the lush finish. Has style, grace and intensity. (GB - Tidings, November 2007)
