Shows amazing depth, richness and concentration with a dark and savory character, layers of blackberry, blueberry and wild berry fruit that takes on a smoky, meaty, gamy edge with hints of bacon fat, quite full with a mouth-coating and delicious complexity and a long, rich finish that goes on and on. Needs a big hunk of red meat. (GB - Tidings, September 2011)
Ripe and fleshy, with a range of spice and meaty notes surrounding a vivid core of black cherry and blackberry fruit with hints of pepper. A harmonious wine, powerful without being fat, with a sense of refinement, showing a touch of minerality on the finish. Elk tenderloin sounds pretty good. (GB - Tidings, June 2010)
A fun, festive red sparkler that's crimson-purple in colour with aromas of plum, raspberry and spice, refreshing, rich flavours of cherry and plum with a touch of fresh herbs, minerality, firm tannins and an uplifted acidity on the finish. Chambourcin is the grape varietal, but a small amount of fortified Shiraz was added, which contributes to the funky uniqueness of the wine. (GB - Tidings, January 2012)
Elegant and rich with bold, ripe and focussed aromas and flavours of plum, black cherry, raspberry, and currants with hints of cedar and spice, velvety tannins, a bright minerality and long, fresh finish. Great with grilled lamb. Syrah, Carmenere and Cabernet Sauvignon. (GB - Tidings, January 2012)
Fresh, bright, and refreshing with ripe silky flavours of blueberry, cherry, plum and currants, hints of mint, soft tannins and a pleasant juiciness on the lifted finish. A nice match with beef carpaccio. (GB -Tidings, November 2011)
Great complexity and elegance with beautiful aromas and flavours of cherry, raspberry, spice and a touch of leather, a lovely brightness, silky palate and a firm underlying structure, a refreshing minerality and a long finish. A great match with game and hard semi-hard cheeses. (GB - Tidings, September 2011)
An elegant blend Syrah and Grenache with aromas and flavours of black berries, black cherries, and hints of chocolate and coffee, soft tannins and a long, soft finish. A great match for pork and veal. (GB - Tidings, September 2011)
Aromas of violets and blackcurrants with subtle fruit on the palate encased in mineral, earth and clay, quite approachable but far from being simple. Great character and a tremendous value. Baga, Touriga Nacional, Syrah and Cabernet Sauvignon. (GB - Tidings, August 2011)
Simple with some light cherry and plum flavours, a touch of espresso and a rather short finish. Neither offensive nor compelling. (GB - Tidings, January 2012)
Aromas of pepper, bright blackberries and raspberries with hints of spice. Elegant, yet concentrated flavours of black cherries and blackberries, hints of spice and earth with good complexity, gentle tannins and a great freshness on the long lasting finish. Despite its elegance and delicacy, the wine possesses a great underlying structure which should allow for it to continue to develop and evolve over the next 3-5 years. Quite versatile when pairing with food matching with everything from a nicely prepared piece of Alberta beef to bison to duck ragu to hard cheeses. (GB - Tidings, September 2011)
